E-Commerce and Internet Technologies

Hey everyone!

Welcome back or to my blog. This week we are going back to our roots, and I am going to talk about the digital economy.

This weeks task, is to review 3 online platforms that can be easily integrated into a website to help a business engage in e-commerce for 3 businesses

First things first what even is e-commerce? ๐Ÿ˜•

Electronic commerce is the trading of goods and services on the  internet. It is your favourite shops in the form of zeroes and ones.

Here is a 1 minute video explaining what E-commerce is, to give you a little insight What is E-Commerce?

Each business has their own needs and there is an online platform to suit every need and passion! Some of my passions include the gym, shopping and coffee!! So for this week I am going to use those three areas to select an online platform suitable if I was to pursue a business in those areas.

Firstly a gym, the main needs of a gym class schedules, booking systems, payment collection and communication with members including email, SMS and campaigns. The platform I found the most suitable is GLOFOX. This is an Irish-based software designed for gyms! Could it be more perfect?! It's the #1 Fitness Management Software and I love supporting a local business.

If I was to open a clothing boutique on the other hand, I would have a whole different set of needs.  My go to platform would definitley be BigCommerce. We have all heard of Shopify but BigCommerce is my preference, BigCommerce offers more free features and does not charge transaction fees, which are notable if you are starting your own business you want more bang for your buck.

They also have a realistic guide to opening an online boutique which I have linked HERE.

or maybe I'll open a cafe. Square would be my one-stop-shop. Square is what the tech-heads call an ePOS which is just an electronic point of sale so you've got barcode readers, scanners and screens to help record sales and stock. From managing multiple cafe locations to selling coffee on the go or online, Square has all the business tools and payment solutions needed to run your business smoothly.

There are so many platforms out there to suit your business, make sure to read my blog posts about implementing software systems and companies who implemented systems correctly to get an idea of all that goes into installing software in your management and how successful it can be when it goes right!

Thanks for reading!

Hope you all had a great Halloween ๐Ÿ’€

See you all next week, Rachael ๐Ÿ˜
