Companies that used Enterprise Applications successfully

   Hey everybody!

This weeks post will be all about ERP

For those who aren't sure, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) are a complex but essential tool for any fast-growing business to optimize their systems. They are an access-all-areas pass of business

HERE is a YouTube link for a quick video explaining in a little more detail what an ERP is.

Here are 3 examples of companies that used Enterprise Applications successfully to support their business strategy and business model.

1.      1. Amazon

Amazon.com is an American multinational technology company that focuses on E-commerce, Cloud Computing, Digital Streaming, and Artificial Intelligence.

Amazon uses SAP for all its ERP needs. SAP is the world’s leading ERP software vendor which makes perfect sense why it would be used by the world’s leading e-commerce business. SAP develops enterprise software to manage business operations and customer relations.

SAP has helped Amazon support their e-commerce business model and manage their:

  •         Financial accounting
  •         Invoice verification
  •         Inventory management
  •      Logistical business needs
  •      Human resources
  •         Order management
  •         Sales

Amazon can instantly reach its global target audience while providing consistent high-quality service to satisfy and retain customers. SAP allows Amazon their sales, analyse profit margins and carry out plans based on the solutions offered by SAP.

2.   Starbucks Corporation

Starbucks is an American multinational chain of coffeehouses.

Starbucks uses Oracle ERP – a cloud-based software system that automates back-office tasks and day-to-day business operations. Oracle E-Business suite supports not only ERP but also Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM)

The Oracle Business Suite allows them to support their business model of company-operated stores by providing quick access to information such as: revenue, expenses and data on sales to observe profits easily.

2. Walmart

Walmart Inc. is an American multinational retail corporation that operates a chain of discount department stores, and grocery stores in the United States The company’s yearly sales are over $500 billion, roughly double those of its nearest retail competitor, Amazon.

Walmart are currently in a five-year contract with Microsoft Azure, a platform for several ERP systems.

The following are some of the expectations for the Microsoft Azure partnership:

  • Integration with developing blockchain-based solutions.
  • E-commerce opportunities that are more diverse and efficient.
  • Existing ERP programs can be plugged into the Microsoft Azure platform.
  • Plans to develop a cloud-based enterprise system that will serve as the foundation for managing the company’s resources.
  • Automated warehousing capabilities have a wider range of applications.
  • Artificial intelligence is being used to manage supplier relationships.

Thanks to Microsoft Azure, Walmart has a competitive edge in tech. ERP allows Walmart to support its business model of providing low prices for products while employing international expansion and e-commerce. Azure improves the efficiency of the organisation’s supply chain management and strengthens integration with suppliers.

ERP is a super interesting area of software and is ever-changing and growing. Hopefully, these examples helped you see how it can be applied and useful to some of the biggest companies in the world.

Thanks for reading! See you next week - Rachael
