Hey everyone!
Ireland is considered a trailblazer in the EU regarding the integration of the Digital Economy, the DESI 2022 Index report it is expected to make a significant contribution to reach Europe's Digital Decade Targets.
According to Technology Ireland, Irelands $50 billion digital economy accounts for 13% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).
IDA Ireland 2015 outline Ireland's advantages for foreign direct investment. Here are my top ten favourite infrastructure recourses:
(1) Educated Graduates
As a final year student, I think it's important I give credit to all the talented, educated graduates. Ireland actually has the highest level of STEM graduates per capita in EU amongst 20-29 year olds. The young educated work force support employment in high-technology sectors.
(2) Diversity
Ireland is committed to enforcing an inclusive and open-society by encouraging young women into STEM careers through career fairs and events. Ireland also engages with schools to support neurodiverse students and offering disability scholarships. 32% of software developers in Ireland are women which is 2% above the EU average.
(3) EU Membership
Ireland ranks alongside the most internationally engaged countries in the world as the only English-speaking country in the Euro-zone. Irish citizens are proud members of the EU with 88% of the population believing Ireland benefits by being part of the EU.
(4) Tough Economy
Ireland had a 13.5% GDP growth in 2021, our economy remains resilient even during COVID-19 our economy's strong structure and capital investment plans meant we are in a good position for continuous growth into the future.
(5) Big Plans
The latest Irish National Development Plan released a €165 million budget promising the highest investment into vital infrastructure up to 2030 (public transport, education, sustainability) encouraging economic growth and foreign direct investment.
(6) The Green Isle Going Green
Ireland's Energy Policy is built on 3 core objectives - sustainability, competitiveness and security of supply. The green isle is taking a lead in promoting green energy tech. and hopes to have up to 80% renewable energy sources by 2030.
(7) Connectivity
Although Ireland is a tiny country, it is a hub for some of the biggest names in tech. offering advanced telecommunications and broadband infrastructure. Investors have a a choice of high-capacity connectivity. As well as on-going investment into diverse connectivity.
(8) A Powerhouse
Ireland, although may seem like just a rock in the ocean, is connected to the rest of the world through transport links. With huge exports of pharmaceuticals, technology, medical devices, foods and financial services, we've got you covered with everything! In 2022, 72% of National exports were multinationals in Ireland.
(9) Young Workforce
34% of Ireland's citizens are under 25 making us the youngest population in Europe and one of the most educated and dynamic workforces in the WORLD. Which is a big title for a small island - not to even mention how flexible and adaptable we are.
(10) Everybody is welcome!
Finally, with 200+ nationalities on less than 85,000km Ireland is a home for everybody. According to InterNations Expat Insider 2021 Irish people are extremely welcoming toward foreign residents. Irish culture is committed to ensuring a diverse and inclusive society for all.
Hopefully these gave you a glimpse into how powerful Ireland's economy is and some of the infrastructure recourses. Our diverse workforce and resilient economy make us a great asset to the Digital Economy of the world.
